MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
John 1:14
The Word became a human being and lived (tabernacled) among us,
And we saw His Shekinah (Glory)….
This morning as I was praying through the Tabernacle, I started remembering some of my friends during this Christmas season. I kept seeing pictures of families together, adult children traveling long distances to spend the holiday with their parents. I noticed, even felt the mothers’ delight and joy in seeing their children. I saw mothers kissing their grandbabies and hugging their sons and daughters in great delight.
All this started me thinking about the Lord. Is the great joy and delight that we see and feel when our children come to visit us a small fraction of the Great Joy and Delight the Lord feels when we come to “see” Him through worship and prayer? I suddenly saw our Heavenly Father, as in the prodigal son story, the incredible joy and delight the Father exhibited when His long lost son returned home.
Many of us don’t consider ourselves “prodigal”. We faithfully go to church and attend our Bible studies. We read our Bibles and have our devotions every day. But do we sense and feel that great joy and delight in our meeting with the Lord? I believe it’s always there, no matter how often we spend time with God. Like our children who take our love for granted, I think we also take the Lord’s Great Love for us for granted. What an amazing thing the Lord did for us! God left the Majesty of Heaven, took on flesh and came to live among us. Just so we could know Him and see His Glory! He did this because He loves each one of us so incredibly much.
This holiday season, let’s take a moment and ponder. Let’s think about the great delight the Lord feels towards you every time you come to Him in worship and prayer. Let’s not allow our everyday rituals get in the way of our feeling and sensing the Lord’s exceedingly great joy toward us as we pray.
Believe me, the Lord is always greatly overjoyed to see you when you worship and pray. Spend a little time to experience that love and joy the next time you pray.
